What a luxury to do nothing until 10am. Not even a fortnight into my innumerable weeks off (that’s a lie, you can count them, and the number remaining is ever diminishing), I have perfected the art of clearing my mind and looking out the window. The biggest test for these skills was the XPT return trip, but I need to keep practiced and game-ready for the 20 hour train trip we will endure (enjoy…) in Vietnam.

Hours dribbled by. I walked around Queens Park. Walking around Queens Park is really a concession to the day that not much is going on and you don’t have much enthusiasm to change that course. A day full to the brim with energy would lead to a cheerful stroll along Centennial Park. A day of sunshine and laughter would start at Bronte and end at Coogee. Today was a sullen trot around Queens Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Old resurfaced album: Pocketknife – Mr Little Jeans. This album includes a cover of The Arcade Fire’s The Suburbs. I was thinking of the original when thinking of the TV series Catastrophe. The song plays in the final scene of the last season, and gives substance to my belief that this light hearted, playful show concludes with a powerful scene of self-afflicted and homicidal tragedy. I don’t find this a happy song.

My biggest achievement today was doing holiday related shopping at Bondi Junction. Which is an excuse to buy more books, as is every day in my life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
