We hope the Roberts-Thompsons still have us bookmarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a weird day at work. It is emotionally difficult to reconcile the routine nature of employment with the knowledge you will be waking up several thousand miles away tomorrow morning. Let&#8217;s see how we manage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite a minor mix-up at the start (Caitlin had assumed I would meet here at arrivals as I was &#8220;arriving&#8221; at the airport), we progressed through the motions and managed to clear customs, security, the luxury sunglasses district and board our plane.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Things that captivate me at the airport:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seeing pilots walking around. International ones in particular always seem sort of lost and confused, holding a coffee and speaking into a phone in the middle of a hall.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>People who feel some primal survival urge to load up on bottled water.
