We move closer and closer to home. The highlight of the day is the accommodation in Narrandera, where we stay at a converted church. If the churches of my youth played Tenet, had Maxibons in the freezer and comfy beds, it’s possible that my relationship with religion would be completely different.
Warning! This man is on the move in NSW and is dangerously relaxed. DW. They called out the ‘smoothie specialist’ to make this drink. She knows her stuff. Smoothie SME. JRTThis bridge spanning the Murray has a cool early 1900s aesthetic at its core. We never got time to do a ferry crossing though unfortunately. DW.We have ticked off many Big <object>’s on the trip. A country Australia classic. By driving through the Big Tyre, it is more interactive than most. JRTWe’re off to a good start. The first point of interest has been relocated several hundred metres away inside a museum and due to time constraints this plaque will have to satisfy the team. They seem unconcerned and ask what we were supposed to find here. I can’t tell them as I don’t really know. DW. The attraction was supposed to be a large dead log. Even if the log was here, this was worst point of interest of the trip. JRTCivilization! DW.A second Dimmeys!!! We had to visit. As expected, they have more great quality clothes at very reasonable prices, but like last time, they weren’t in my size. I leave disappointed, but resolute to visit every Dimmeys I come across. JRTThis was a great find at the Mildura Vinnies. Don’t listen to what anyone else says, it was 80 minutes of car fun. My favourite was Track 16, Engleburt Humperdink – Can’t Take my Eyes Off You. DW. Dek bought a random couple’s wedding album, and then forced us to listen to Irish rock. JRT2 days from Blackheath. 5 mins from a yummy Mildura Banh Mi. JRT James is clearly feeling the effects of his third coffee for the day in this photo. DW.Narrandera nightlife – the Berlin of Australia. CR.We stayed in a converted Airbnb church, which is everything I hope it is. JRTThe church is beautifully converted. It retains many original elements, like the pews, stained glass, and enormous chandelier, and has added a modern kitchen, two bathrooms, big couches, a mezzanine bath… Is this heaven? JRT James lacked the gumption to use the mezzanine bath. I promised I wouldn’t look. DW.
That accommodation! Wow so gorgeous 😍 you must have been so excited when you walked in. First accommodation I have been jealous of 🤣
Didn’t get the Tenet reference???
We were all so excited when we walked in. It was a very memorable accommodation!
We watched the Christopher Nolan movie Tenet in the church at night. It’s the second time I have seen it, the third time Declan had seen it, and James’ first time. All three of us really like it. It’s a slick production with good acting. I watched a lot of it from the church pews 😉
