Sun 19th Nov – YuGiOh Kingsford Tournament

Last modified date

Most of the day was spent ambling waiting to get Declan a free copy of Last of Us II from Gumtree in Eastgardens. The Gumtree user never replied.

In the vague hope the Eastgarden’s freebie would materialise, we walked close-ish to there, through UNSW and along Anzac Parade. We stumbled into a YuGiOh tournament in a random games shop on Anzac Parade. We walked in and watched for 20 minutes and no one even asked us why we were standing around, they were way too involved in the heart of the cards. We both wanted to understand how to play the game but absolutely no one cared about us.

UNSW on a Sunday in late Spring
Sweaty and intense
There is never anyone in this bubble tea shop, which also has a BasketBall Skewer bar in the same shopfront behind it. It is a mysterious place.

  1. How do I subscribe over email to this blog? I’m confused. The RSS button gave me funny text and no posts by this friendly lady.

  2. Good question Declan and I’m sure one many people will have.

RSS is most easily accessed through an app. I’d recommend NetNewsWire on iPad and/or Feeder on Android. Both of these are open source, free and have no ads. You can use the link in the sidebar (https://www.aerowalsh.com/cr/?feed=rss) under the Add Feed options for these apps to get this blog added. You can remove all of the other default blogs from both.

If you’re stuck still and REALLY need regular updates (i.e. bookmarks and checking in now and then won’t cut it), then you can contact the webmaster at admin@aeroela.com. He seems pretty friendly and should be able to assist.

  3. Easy is a difficult term Declan. RSS has many benefits, chief among them that it is privacy respecting and enables you (the enjoyer of this blog) to choose when to open it and enjoy it. Rather than being relentlessly assaulted by emails from Caitlin’s jolly. It also allows you to stop at any point you want without having to awkwardly request removal from the mailing list.

The webmaster probably didn’t want to do a poor job of email either. He seems like a man (or woman) with an eye for detail and a craftmanshiplike approach. RSS is more SmallWeb and friendly.

  4. OK, thanks FTMF. That makes sense and sounds great. I’m excited (and to be honest a little bit nervous) to use RSS, but the content here seems worth it.

I appreciate the time and assistance.

  5. Wow. Getting easy to understand tech advice can be a real drama but ftmf has really helped and eased my anxiety about joining the comments section of the blog.
