Fri 24th Nov – Couch Day With Interludes

Last modified date

When you travel back home, whether it be for twenty days or two, there will be at least one Couch Day. This day is characterised by underwhelming weather, a tv series you have already watched and a dinner that is a combination of lunch and the depth of the fridge. The Couch Day is where you pay your respects to holidays past, present and future.

Couch Day (re-watch) Movie: Triangle of Sadness. Mimi – why have you still not seen this film? It’s an absolute travesty of 2023 that you are yet to view it. I will not let you finish the year without watching it. In fact, if Goldie and Hannah are yet to watch, I would consider this essential viewing for your Summer South Coast Vacay. As usual with Paul, I have no clue whether he will enjoy this or not. However, I consider this a perfect movie. Compelling acting, flawless pacing and striking colour palette. It was a joy to watch for the second (and certainly wont be the last) time.

Couch Day (re-watch) Television Show: The Long Way Down. I felt calmer about my own impending overseas travel after watching the discomfort and difficulty of Ewan and Charlie’s adventure.

Couch Day Snack: the best caramel slice I’ve ever had, and a sliver of a brownie from the same cakery. Obviously the brownie wasn’t the best I have ever had because I have had Mimi’s Cook and Baker rendition.

Couch Day Interludes:

  • Visited Lizzie the Golden Retriever
  • Many viewings of the Coffs Harbour Bypass, currently under construction
  • Walk up Mutton Bird Island, where the whole headland looks like it’s been tormented by the ghost of Zhukov digging.

So concludes Couch Day, otherwise known as Declan’s Hell.

It’s tiring being loved so much.
Contender for most dangerous carpark in a Mid North Coast regional town? Or a classic Couch Day Interlude? Counted three uses of the word Cunt in 30 seconds. Could do better, bronze medal.
The source of caramel slice. Mimi – this is the shop front I’d imagine you’d have, but obviously fitted out differently.

  1. From luxury beach side house to the worst place in Coffs onto the best caramel slice shop around all in one day is really a roller coaster of emotions all in one day. Much like living with a teenager you never know what is about to happen.

Lizzie is the best dog ever.

  2. First off – so chuffed to be mentioned in here, multiple times! And even more honoured to know that my rendition of the cook & baker brownie is your favourite brownie of all time! #famelyf

    Notes on the above;
    1. Couch days are honestly the best. Literally nothing better than going back home and truly embracing your inner potato for the day. Really provides the reset needed.
    2. YES I NEED TO WATCH TRIANGLE OF SADNESS! It’s literally been my only objective over the past how many months, and I haven’t been able to achieve that. 2023 has not been a great year for the personal goals… But great idea – this will be a summer holiday movie. Again TBD about Paul, but he’s really gotten into eating microwave popcorn (he’ll finish an entire bag if I leave him on his own), so he’ll at least enjoy the snacks I make to accompany the movie 😛
    3. I need to quit my job and open a cute little bakery. One day.
